Her story

A career built inside CPS classrooms

Rosita has spent over 30 years as a lifelong educator — serving, teaching, and advocating for students across Chicago. She is a state-certified teacher who has taught in both Chicago Public Schools and Catholic schools, and served as head teacher for math and science in CPS.

That gives her unparalleled experience with the CPS system inside and out, so she's ready to represent District 10B on day one — not on a learning curve.

She holds a Doctorate in Education (EdD), a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction, and a BA in Psychology, with endorsements in Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts. She attended Roosevelt University, Concordia University, University of Chicago, Chicago State University, and Newburgh Theological University. Throughout her career she has been a vocal opponent of school closures and a steady advocate for Black teachers wrongfully terminated and for inner-city youth.
